**IMPORTANT VACCINE UPDATE**

We are therefore only receiving a small percentage of our normal supply.
This shortage has led to us having to prioritise vaccines based on scientific evidence and experience.

Whilst vaccines are still available, we will continue to give a primary course of two vaccines to all puppies and kittens to give them protection at this vulnerable time of their lives.

We are pleased to announce that we have secured enough dog vaccine to resume boosting our dogs in a normal way. If you have recently been advised the need to delay your dog’s vaccination, please phone reception and book in now.

Adult cats due their boosters will be delayed for up to 3 months. Please phone our reception team for advice when you receive your cat’s vaccination reminder.
In cats we vaccinate against Feline Calici and Herpes viruses (Cat Flu) every year and, up until now, Feline Leukaemia (FeLV) in cats going outdoors, yearly too.

The cat flu vaccine we use currently is only licensed for one year, however this immunity does not disappear overnight so, at this practice, although boosting every 12months is preferable, we have always accepted cats can be up to 3 months late without insisting on restarting the course.

Therefore, delaying your cat’s vaccination during this shortage by just 3 months should still give adequate protection to your cat.

Rabies vaccines are also in short supply. These still must be given on time if you travel regularly with your pet abroad (every 3 years but must not be even a day late).

If you are not travelling abroad this year then we may ask you to consider delaying any booster due but you must remember to have it done at least 22 days (we would advise much earlier than this!) before your next travel date.
